This arrangement is a jazz treatment of the traditional Shaker folk melody "Simple Gifts." After a traditional statement of the original tune, this setting presents the melody as a jazz sambe, a jazz waltz, and finally a fast jazz swing. Within this arrangement, the singers "trade" jazz variations on the traditional folk song melody.
